When Mary first arrived at Misselthwaite Manor, she was a girl without a home. Ill-tempered, disagreeable and lost.
The secret garden changed that.
Founded by Ruby Barber, Mary Lennox is named after the protagonist of Frances Hodgson Burnett’s novel The Secret Garden, a story which celebrates the beauty, mystery and rejuvenating qualities of nature.
By chance, Ruby’s first studio also found itself on the corner of Mary and Lennox Streets in Sydney, Australia.
Universally recognised and endlessly diverse, plants and flowers are humankind’s most beautiful and intriguing muse.
We specialise in pairing botanics and floral concepts with art, design and lifestyle. Including, but not limited to, made-to-order gift bouquets, botanical styling, large-scale floral installations, plants for the home, bespoke concepts for events and brands, trend-forecasting, creative research, collaborations.
Put simply – elevating the true pleasures of plants and flowers by showcasing their beauty and intrigue.
Mary Lennox and Amira Fritz collaborate for the photographic series of Small Bouquets
Amira Fritz is a Berlin-based artist working with analogue photographic techniques to create her art. From a family of florists and gardeners, Amira finds her muse in plants and flowers. Conversely, Mary Lennox founder, Ruby, hails from a family of photographers and gallerists. With a true appreciation for each other’s trade, Amira and Mary Lennox embark on the first in a line of future collaborations. Each piece of the series captures a Mary Lennox Small Bouquet, photographed, hand-printed and framed by Amira.

For a unique exhibition, Berlin’s Museum THE KENNEDYS becomes Mary Lennox’s secret garden. Lined with scented garden roses, brimming with weeping birch, age old citrus and apple trees, the garden forms a temporary home to an exotic range of jewels.

Mary Lennox and MINI Living come together to illustrate the power of botanicals. The Mary Lennox x MINI Living Installation at Salone Del Mobile 2016 showcased the most beautiful natural produce from the Milan and Ventimiglia region. Through extensive research of the local flower and horticultural trade, a mass of flowers, plants and produce were attained from the region to create a pop-up shop true to MINI’s values and conscious living.

A growing installation for Mercedes Benz
Over an exhibition of three months, Mary Lennox’s Greenhouse provided sanctuary from the surrounding city. Hand-built from discarded windows and recycled materials by local woodworker, Kentholz, the Greenhouse reflects overgrown, rustic charm against modern interiors. All plants and pieces of the dismantled Greenhouse continue to grow across the city.
